JAKTOOL Honored with NEST Contract & Secures $3.3M to Revolutionize Munitions Testing

The NSWC IHD (Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division) program with the Naval Energetic Systems and Technologies (NEST) contract has recognized JAKTOOL! The NEST, in partnership with the National Armaments Consortium (NAC), is a national collaboration supporting the NSWC IHD to address the most significant energetics and explosive ordnance disposal challenges facing the Navy, the Marine Corps, Department of Defense, and the Nation. This contract celebrates our commitment to innovation in engineering solutions and excellence in collaboration.

$3.3M Contract to Transform Munitions Testing

With this recognition, JAKTOOL has secured a $3.3M contract under the NEST-24-01-150: AMERICA (Advanced Materials for Energetic Research, Innovation, and Controlled Assessment) initiative, facilitated by the NSWC IHD NEST program to revolutionize munitions testing! We’re pushing the limits of munitions innovation through this project. 

Over the next 36 months, we will be engineering the future of defense by developing cutting-edge test methods, advanced tools, and next-gen lethal mechanisms. This crucial work will accelerate the fielding of high-performance munitions and energetic materials for the DoD.

Key Areas of Innovation

This project will involve groundbreaking advancements in several key areas:

  • Revolutionizing measurement: Novel tools and fixtures will be developed to reimagine testing for cost reduction and time savings.
  • Producible designs: Designs for producibility, cost savings, and supply chain resiliency are being focused on.
  • Optimizing warhead components: The impact and effectiveness of warhead components will be enhanced.
  • Advancing propulsion technologies: We’re dedicated to pushing the boundaries of performance in propulsion systems through novel energetic materials and firing trains.
